William Hill, the online casino games operator, was honored with the prestigious ‘Operator of the Year’ title at the eGaming Review (eGR) 2011 awards. One of the key factors that helped it cinch the win is its mobile betting offerings, which include a new financial app for mobile phones, smartphones and tablets.
The New Mobile Financial Trading App
One of William Hill’s biggest accomplishments this year has been the introduction of its range of mobile gaming applications. The division for mobile wagering benefited from the many innovations. These included a relationship exclusively formed between them and William Hill in launching the Racing Post, an application that is widely used by members of the site. A mobile casino, Shake-a-Bet and another sports betting mobile site have also been launched recently. In 2011, a day trader financial betting site was added to William Hill’s portfolio.
The amount wagered in-play annually increased by 95% due to constant expansion of product lines. William Hill also took on the role of the only online and mobile bookmaker to give players a chance to bet point-by-point on each match held at Wimbledon. The site’s expansion into basketball products also deserves a mention.
Thanks to William Hill’s extensive football wagering options, both during the game and prior to it, the site offers players approximately 500,000 opportunities to bet each week. The wagers can be made on any of the many markets in the industry.
In order to fully support their new products, the operator signed agreements with SPL, ESPN, the Sun’s Dream Team, Super League Rugby, Scottish Football, etc.
Winning Operator of the Year
To win the award at the eGR 2011, William Hill beat out a list of other well known nominees. Some of these were: Betfair, 888 and Bet 365.
The annual awards event was held at the Honorable Artillery Club, London. Rufus Hound, the comedian, was the host of the show. He was joined by 700 professionals from the online gaming industry, all of whom were celebrating the achievements of the industry as a whole over the last year.
eGR’s panel of judges stated that William Hill had transformed into an innovative and dynamic online gaming brand, which shows every sign of moving forward without losing its momentum. It was also recognized as being the best turnaround story of the year.
